Data Recovery Software Program

Data loss happens more often that most people realize. Weather, a computer virus, an accident or a mistake by an employee can cause important data to be erased, and without a data recovery program, you may never be able to retrieve the missing data. With the right hard drive recovery software program, however, most data that has simply been deleted can be restored. Before you panic or send your hard drive to a repair facility, you should be aware of the pros and cons of data recovery software programs.

How a data recovery program works

Because data loss can vary depending on your computer system (is it a laptop, RAID or MS Exchange Server, or simply a PC) and the cause of data loss, there is no one data recovery program that will solve all data loss problems. At Hard Drive Recovery Group, we will ask you many questions about the data loss and any computer problems occurring beforehand in order to properly assess the situation. Only then will we recommend a data recovery program versus an in-house hard drive repair service.

When you delete a file on your computer, it does not immediately disappear. First, it is sent to the Recycle Bin. If you catch the file while in the Recycle Bin, you can simply restore it to its original location on your hard drive. Once the file is deleted from this location, it disappears from your sight, but not from the computer. With the right data recovery program, this file, and others like it, can be restored safely and efficiently.

What Makes A Good Data Recovery Program
When you are trying to determine what type of data recovery program you should choose, there are some things you should look for. First, how large is the program? Can it be downloaded to a floppy disk or CD, or does it have to be downloaded to your hard drive? Under no circumstances should you ever download a recovery program to your hard drive because it will be stored on top of deleted files. Once you store new data on top of old ones, it is impossible to recover the old files.

Will it work?
Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that a data recovery program will work for you. There are too many variables for one program to be able to recover data from any hard drive.

For example, if you have a damaged hard drive, you probably need to have a technician evaluate it and attempt to restore the data in a clean room environment. Similarly, if a virus has infected your hard drive and your computer will not boot up, you won't be able to run data recovery software. These are situations that call for the experience of a certified technician.

If you don't know how to deal with data loss and aren't sure if your hard drive is physically damaged or if the files have just been deleted, you should speak with a professional about the problem before proceeding. It is better to be safe than sorry!
