Fixed Disk Parameter Table or BIOS Error - System Halted
Typically, this error will come with a BIOS post beep,
and typically will stop the booting process in its tracks. This occurs
generally before any operating system boot is initiated. Some good quick
fix ideas might be:
1. Check with your computer manufacturer's support forums
for common issues - Sometimes, this is merely a BIOS error. In cases where
this is the issue, there will likely be a BIOS fix, or a flashing utility
which can be downloaded and run. Ensure that when flashing your BIOS,
you DO NOT power off. This may result in a complete loss of your motherboard's
BIOS.
2. CMOS Battery - All motherboards require a CMOS battery
in order to store information in the BIOS. When the battery burns out,
it may show this error. Replacing the battery in regular PCs is very easy,
whereas attempting to do so in the case of a laptop computer is NEVER
recommended. Only professionals should typically open a laptop.
There are some cases, meanwhile, where this error can
occur when your hard disk drive has reached failure point, and is mechanically
flawed. If this is the issue, never attempt to open your hard drive on
your own. Doing so will destroy it and all of its data, nine times out
of ten. Instead, consult with a professional like the data recovery technicians
